Midterm Reflection
I really enjoyed first quarter in Spanish. Mrs. Jiménez is a great teacher and she makes it easy to learn Spanish. In the
beginning I made really good grades this quarter. I slipped a little towards the end but I am still trying hard to bring it all back up.
I am hoping to get better grades on quizzes because that is what seems to bring my grade down the most. I did not do very well
with pronouns but I did very well with commands and vocab these last 2 topics.
Recently, Mrs. Jiménez has been using songs and raps to help us learn concepts. I feel like they work really well with helping me learn and I really enjoy them. I am pretty fluent in the language but I find that I have an easier time writing it than I do speaking the language on the spot. My pronunciations don’t sound very good but I am working on that. I am going to start using the quizlets we have to make to study for quizzes. The last quiz I did that for about 30 minutes and I think I made one hundred on it. (vocab quiz) I am very glad the quizlets are required to do for a grade because it helps my grade SO much!

La historia de arquitectura en España
Go to this link and skim important facts about Spanish architecture.
http://www.red2000.com/spain/primer/arch.html
1. The most influential group of people who occupied Spain for almost 8 centuries were the Moors.
They constructed the Great Mosque of Cordoba, one of the most visited sites in Spain.
They use many arches and long columns in their architecture. In most of the picture I have seen, they decorate their columns very intricately. They use many fall type colors like reds, yellows, oranges, and browns.
They also constructed the Alhambra,
which is a most visited site.
The building is a off white color. It has arches in columns in the front of the building. It has rectangular spikes on the top of the building around the outside.
Influence of Spanish Architecture in the U.S.
When the Spanish settled the southwestern U.S, they brought with them their architectural style. Scroll through both pages at the following link to look at some fabulous photos of Spanish-style homes in California.

5 notable elements of Spanish style architecture are seen in all the pictures at this site are:
They use arcs
2. They use decorative tiles on most structures.
3. Many places use fountains or ponds.
4. Decorative vases are used commonly.
5. Blue is a very common color.

Spanish Goals
My goals for Spanish are to finish with an A and be more fluent in Spanish than I was last semester. I will reach those goals by studying more every day and really paying attention in class to receive every piece of information I need. I will also try to complete every extra credit assignment. I have already made mostly A's and some B's by studying for my quizzes so far!
